Here are a few safety tips that safegas.org recommends to keep your family safe.
-
If you smell gas, even a small amount, "don't stay-get away." Then after you are in a safe location, call your natural gas provider or 9-1-1
-
Natural gas appliances should have a blue flame. If pilot lights are burners have a steady, blue flame they are operating correctly. Decorative gas logs often have a yellow flame.
-
Have all gas appliances inspected every year or two by a qualified service technician
-
Keep the areas around all gas appliances clean and unblocked to allow proper air flow.
-
Follow recommended manufacturer directions for care, maintenance, and use of gas appliances
